A mission created to supply handcrafted tiny hats, blankets, afghans, quilts, clothing, burial gowns/outfits, etc. to NICU units in memory of my twin grandchildren, Morgan Reed and Meghan Christine who were born prematurely 3/5/2012 and passed away just two short days later 3/7/2012.

Hats and Preemie Wraps Galore from New Jersey
Can you believe it? Another box of goodies arrived in my mailbox! These two precious crocheted preemie wraps/capes and a mountain of knitted hats in all sizes and colors! Amazing!!!!!!!
This box was made and donated by a new friend that I've never met named Annie in New Jersey. She was introduced to Grandma's Promise by yet another relatively new friend of mine that I've never met named Marie in New Jersey. :) Yes, you read my words correctly...I've never met these wonderful ladies.
Marie and I "know" each other only through a Facebook group, but once she heard about Grandma's Promise, she wanted to help. Then she told Annie about us!
Just imagine how quickly we could grow and supply more and more NICU units with these needed items if one person told one person, then that person told another, etc., etc., etc.
Once again I'm overwhelmed by the generosity of others!
Annie telephoned me to let me know that she hasn't stopped and that there will be more to come. Annie is 71 years young and after our telephone conversation, I'm certain she can run circles around me. She is full of energy and is excited to continue making these items to donate to precious little ones and their families.
THANK YOU Annie!
Blessings,
Theresa (aka Grandma)

I hope I can get through this paragraph without falling apart...I recently started crocheting because it is very calming for me and it has also been therapeutic in helping me cope with the death of my premature son Jaden Carter Roddy, he was born at 24 wks and weighed 530 grams(1lb 3oz)he lived for 8 days. I never had the chance to hold him while he was alive but when the NICU nurse handed him to me to say my goodbye's I can remember the beautiful crocheted blanket and outfit they dressed him in and whenever I feel the need I get the blanket out and hold it close to me...Its the last thing that held my son so it is priceless to me. I cant wait to donate something that I crocheted to bring another Mother some sort of comfort.

DeleteThank you so much for your kind words. Its really comforting to know that someone cares and understands what you are going through. They say time heals all wounds but I'm not sure if I believe that anymore...The pain is as raw today as it was the day he died.
